My Father Vincent Anthony Massano Passed away September 6th 2002 at approx
11:30am.
It was a long fight with leukemia, but it gave us time to do the things we
needed to do.
At first my dad had thought that God was punishing him for wandering from the
church. But I think I convinced him that my god does not punish people. That
maybe he was calling him back because he has other things for him to do. I told
him I thought it was a gift, at least to me, because I get the time to do all
the things I said I would do, or should do , with him. It was better than him
taking him without warning, and leaving all of these things unsaid and undone.
It was bittersweet, we talked about everything and anything, and all of our dark secrets those last few months. It made me love him more than I ever have. I wish we would have done it when I was much younger, but still glad we did it late none the less. I'm trying to have those conversations with my children now.
Here is one of the prayers he wrote:
Oh Lord Almighty God, I now understand that the key to solving a seemingly
unsolvable problem is to release it to you Almighty God. My concerns about the
leukemia and blood level problems that plague me only seem to get worse.
Therefore, I release these concerns and surrender this situation to you Almighty
God, because I know that only through my faith in You and your Blessed Son Lord
Jesus Christ, who by his suffering provided for this cure, can I be free. I Love
You and Believe in You with all my heart and soul. I give thanks and praise to
you Almighty God and Lord Jesus Christ.

Haven Hospice was an answer to our prayers. They turned what was an
intolerable situation in the hospital into a more acceptable way to pass, with
dignity and comfort. They made the last few days of my fathers life easier for
him and all of us, for this we are eternally grateful. They are truly Angels
sent from heaven.
